WINE // Why you should go to the airport wine bar when traveling alone
October 19, 2017
Single, not single- doesn’t really matter. You’re alone, your flight is delayed (current situation) and you’re frustrated.
Instead of wasting your time scrolling aimlessly through Instagram and Facebook, I encourage you to put your phone down, step outside of your comfort zone, and order that glass of wine.
Yes, it’s over priced. As a wine industry connoisseur, it really hurts me (and my wallet) to spend $16 on a glass that comes from a bottle that probably cost the bar just as much or less. But here’s why you should do it anyway.
It forces you to look at new wines you might not otherwise purchase. $55 dollars for a glass of Napa Cab?! No seriously, that’s what it cost here...so no.
Instead take a chance on one of the Euro wines, especially Spain and Italy- best bang for your buck. I got the Mencia, and it did not disappoint ( neither did the price point)
You end up engaging in conversation with the person next to you. This typically leads to conversation - good or bad- but I guarantee it will be far more entertaining then what Kim Kardashian has to say on her IG or Snapchat feed. I met a nice gentleman on business and we talked about kiteboarding (typical) and complained about how expensive it is (as we sipped on $15 glasses of wine). #sanfrancisco
Finally, you will probably discover a new wine( see above- at least they try to make the experience worth yo cash), your brain will let go of the anxiety of a delayed flight, and your body is more mushy and ready to sink into the uncomfortable airplane seat you’re about to force it into.
Oh but also...don’t forget you have a plane to catch though- wine is known to make time go by fast!
One and done, hit it and quit it- you catch my drift.🍷
